The Wines of Westport
Many wine lovers are discovering that cool climates create the most dramatic sparkling, white and rosé wines in the world.
The classic cool climate style of a natural, crisp, refreshing balance between fruit and acidity is the hallmark of all of Westport Rivers' wines.
We don't get in the way and overtly stylize our wines with gobs of oak or sweetness. We aim to allow the terroir of the vintage shine through; we want the wine to taste like the grapes from which it was created. Most Westport Rivers wines are fermented in stainless steel, which keeps the focus on the grapes and the vintage.
Our wines are celebrated for refreshing the palate and pair well with many foods. Cheers!

A 100% stainless steel fermented vintage! This is a classic east coast style chardonnay. Very pretty, yellow-gold color, Westport's chardonnay is known for a gorgeous apple blossom aroma with floral and citrus notes; expect a mineral undertone to develop with age. On the palate, there is plenty of fruit integrated with refreshing acid zing. Westport Rivers Chardonnay is the perfect accompaniment for seafood and poultry dishes as well as a variety of cheeses.

 2006 Westport Rivers Riesling
The last Westport Rivers Riesling was the 2002 vintage. Now, we are pleased to release this wonderful wine. Riesling, embrace the exotic flavors of summertime. Westport Rivers 2006 Riesling has beautiful aromas of pineapple, kiwi and orange peel with a generous palate of ripe fruit and crisp acidity. Finishes with a lingering citrus kick.
Winemaker Bill Russell has been saying that "Riesling is the world's greatest white wine grape" since our first Riesling harvest in 1989. He's certainly proven that Westport Rivers' Riesling can stand up to any Riesling produced anywhere. With this 2006 release, Bill & Rob Russell offer another powerful reason to be proud of Massachusetts' soil ("it's all about the dirt"), rain ("just at the right time please") & sunlight ("who can argue with New England's warm, sunny autumn?").

100% Estate Grown Pinot Noir
We've been making dry rosé since 1998. That is almost a decade before the category of dry Rosé was rediscovered by the press and the CWM (California Wine Machine). Why do we make it? The same reason we make sparkling wine or dry, crisp, fruit centered chardonnay. This is what Westport soil & climate is great for making. This is what we do naturally.
Attractive bright rose color, the wine has a fascinating, complex bouquet with berries, rose petal and a touch of cotton candy. The palate is generous - round and soft yet brisk and firm with wonderfully balanced acidity and richness. The wine finishes with a lingering fruitiness. Our most versatile food wine - pairs well with many dishes from vegetarian to beef and spicy, smoky flavors or exotic spices in Indian and Thai food.
