It’s busy at Westport Rivers. Here is what we have going on:
This August we are hosting 4 Wine Education and Tasting Seminars in our Wine Bar on Wednesday evenings starting on August 6th. These casual seminars will last an hour or two and will highlight a wine, wine making or vineyard related topic and will always include an informative wine tasting.
Our amazing staff led by aficionados Corey Nuffer and Elizabeth Koczera will be your “guides” for these evenings. We will also have some additional surprises for attendees. These are free for wine club members (well, actually wine club members pay $10 but receive a store credit of $10 to use that evening) and ONLY $10 for non-members.
Space is extremely limited so we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible.
Feel free to sign up for one or all. To register please call the store (508-636-3423 extension 2) and a staff member will take your credit card information. Be sure to let them know how many people will be in your party. You may also stop by the store and register during our regular business hours. Once you have signed up there are no cancellations so please make sure you are able to attend. If you have any questions please email:email@example.com
Here is the schedule:
August 6th. 6pm – 8pm “The more you know, the better it tastes”
In the first of our educational series, we’ll start things off right with an overview of how to best assess a glass of wine. The most expert at this can tell you where and when a wine was made, and this isn’t by taste alone. By the end, you’ll all have your own aroma wheel and know how to use it. We’ll also be analyzing the Blanc de Blanc, our 100% Chardonnay sparkling wine, aged 10 years.
August 13th. 6pm – 8pm “Vertical Cold Tasting”
You’ve heard that whites are served too cold and reds are served too warm. We’re going to be tasting out wines at different temps and experiencing the truth behind this. Truly, one of the nerdier wine-based activities you’ll be doing this year but we think you will be very surprised at what is revealed.
August 20th. 6pm-8pm “You can smell one trillion things!”
It’s true, but mind-blowing, right? We’ll be narrowing that down to what’s based in our in-house aroma kit of 50 aromas that will always be located in the wine gallery, a little bit of euroscience and blind tasting of several of our varietals.
August 27th. 6pm – 8pm “Sideways: A wine-based analysis”
Perhaps you’ve heard of this film? Nominated for five Academy Awards and winning for Best-Adapted Screenplay, this film not only helped to popularize Pinot Noir (as it should be) but also touches on other aspects of winemaking that we’ll examine. We’ll even need to taste Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to truly understand the film.
SUNSET MUSIC IS ON! Shows are on FRIDAYS (and some Saturdays) from 6-8pm except for the September shows which are 5-7pm. Our line up this year is amazing!
